McPike Mansion The house was built in 1869 by architect Lucas Pfeiffenberger for its original owner, Henry Guest McPike, a horticulturist who perfected the McPike Grape. The McPike family lived in the mansion until 1936. The mansion was unoccupied from the 1950's until the 1990's when the current owners, George and Sharyn Luedke, bought it. During this time the mansion was the victim of time, weather and vandals. Since they purchased the mansion, the Luedke’s have been successful at stabilizing much of the structure. The mansion grounds may be rented for special programs and events. (No one is currently allowed inside the mansion itself.) If you would like to visit the mansion grounds, you may schedule a tour by contacting George and Sharyn Luedke at 618-462-3348.
