Recreational opportunities abound in the Meeting of the Great Rivers Scenic Byway region. Cyclists and bikers use the Vadalabene trail under the bluffs along the Mississippi River and one doesn't have to own a cycle or bring a bike as there are rental facilities in the area. The Vadalabene trail connects in downtown Alton to the Confluence Bike Trail that leads to the Lewis and Clark State Historic Site in Hartford. There are several excellent harbor facilities that operate on Alton Lake, the 36,000 square acre body of water created by the Melvin Price Locks and Dam. Fishermen and hunters can find plenty of sites to pursue their hobbies along the river or in the many conservation areas in the region. Visitors interested in getting on the river can take advantage of the many tour boat companies and water equipment rental businesses that can be found in Grafton and Alton.

The stables also provide hayrides, and ponies for children. The stables are open during the warmer months. Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are recommended.
