Visitors Guide to the
Golden Eagle
Calhoun County, Illinois

Originally named Winneberg by German settlers, this area was a prosperous brick manufacturing community before the 1880s. Today you can relax in a riverside restaurant and watch the ferry travel back and forth between Illinois and Missouri. Golden Eagle is a popular place to visit in summer and fall because of the many local orchards and road side produce stands.
