Held in celebration of National Fishing Week and co-sponsored by Pere Marquette State Park, Two Rivers National Wildlife Refuge, and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, the Two Rivers Family Fishing Fair offers fun and information for the entire family. There is information for beginning and experienced anglers and lots of fun activities for the kids are just part of the festivities. Fair visitor goers will learn knot tying, fish identification, fish cleaning, casting, and many other skills.

Catching a real trout is the reason the "Trout Pond" is the most popular and exciting activity for children.

A 5,000-gallon aquarium is stocked with many of the local fish found in the Illinois River! These fish are caught just before the event and released back into the wild.

After attending the activities, educational material and prizes are provided. Special prizes include fishing tackle, cane poles, and tackle boxes. Three new activities have been added this year: Cook your own fish at the Fish Preparation Station; shoot a fish at the Bowfishing Station; and Make your own First Aid Kit for you Tackle Box Station.

O There will be numerous seminars at the aquarium where experts will be speaking. There will also be seminars on water safety, educational activities, a chance to make your own cane pole, gifts and prizes, and lots more!

O See the fish that live in the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers in the 5,000 aquarium, get your picture taken at the blue gill pond, or talk with fishing expert Larry Reid! The Bull 93.7 will also be broadcasting all day from the event. Fredbird will be appearing from noon to 1 pm.  Concessions will be open to purchase food or refreshments.

O Free Fishing Days will also be held in observance of National Fishing and Boating Week. Anyone wanting to try fishing can do so without an Illinois state fishing license from Friday, June 6 through Monday, June 9, 2008.
