WILDLIFE WEEKENDS
Dow, IL

TreeHouse Wildlife Center, 23956 Green Acres Road

Visit the Treehouse Wildlife Center on Saturdays in January and February to view live bald eagles being rehabilitated at the center. While you're there, visit some of the other wildlife that call the center home - hawks, owls, falcons and more.

JAC AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE

This exhibit features works by the winners of last summer’s Juried Exhibit and includes pieces in media such as metal, oil, paper, watercolor, and wood carving.

MAPLE SYRUP MAKING

Kampsville, IL

8 am. to 5 pm, check website for schedule
McCully Heritage Project, south of Kampsville, Illinois off of Highway 100
The McCully Heritage Project will be tapping maple trees and making maple syrup beginning in February through mid-March. Once the sap starts flowing, they will be cooking every 2nd or 3rd day, over an open campfire, just outside the McCully Heritage Project pavilion. Scheduling of this event is completely weather dependent. Check the MHP homepage at www.mccullyheritage.org or “like” us on Facebook for updates on the schedule or to find out when the sap is cooking. The public is invited to participate, and to learn about how trees are tapped and sap is collected and turned into maple syrup.

BIRDS OF PREY

An educator from the World Bird Sanctuary will be on hand with a live eagle display in the classroom. Bring your camera to this free program and then tour the National Great Rivers Museum and the Locks and Dam.

MASTERS OF THE SKY

National Great Rivers Museum
"Masters of the Sky", an educational and informational program presented by the World Bird Sanctuary, features eagles, falcons, owls and other birds of prey. There will also be a free eagle display at noon and 2 pm for 30 minutes in the gallery.
$5 for adults, $3 for children 4-12, free for children 3 and under
