Jacoby Arts Center, 627 E. Broadway
The Jacoby Arts Center is featuring 17 of its member artists in its new exhibit, Gallery Members’ Exhibition 2009. This exhibition brings together a diverse group of 17 artists from throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area who are also members of the JAC. The works in the exhibit range from paintings and digitally manipulated images to metalsmithing, wearable art, and sculpture.

WOODWORKING DEMONSTRATION

UFO SPRING
QUILTING RETREAT

Clean out the closet and get ready to tackle some of those UFOs - Un-finished Objects. With instruction from Barb Marfell, you will: learn to miter corners and tricks to binding your quilt. In addition, this quilt retreat includes two nights at one of Elsah's bed and breakfast inns, catered meals by My Just Desserts, a house tour and walking tour of the village.

DOLL QUILTS
THROUGH TIME

Pat Davis, former shop owner and instructor, has been quilting since the 1980s. Her trunk show and lecture will show doll quilts and their evolution through various eras and quilting techniques. If you have a doll quilt - antique or current - please bring it. There will be a special place in the lecture for audience participation.

SUNRISE OBSERVANCE

Observe the spring equinox sunrise and learn of the discovery, form and function of an ancient post circle called Woodhenge that was used as a solar calendar by the Cahokians. No ceremony or ritual is presented. Woodhenge is located 1/2 mile west of Monks Mound and the main entrance to the site.

Nature Institute guides will lead a 2-hour hike through the Olin Nature Preserve and/or Mississippi Sanctuary to look for rare and common wildflowers that bloom on the property every spring. Wear good hiking shoes, and bring your camera, ID books, journal, and water.
