Every third Thursday of the month The Nature Institute partners with Eddie Agha of Agha Designs Jewelry Studio and invites the public to a program of the TNI Astronomy Association. Participants will navigate the preserve with naturalist Eddie Agha to observe and record constellations. No telescopes are needed. Guests will also receive short, instructional lessons about activities and workshops associated with the program, and find out how to join the TNI Astronomy Association.

Participating boats will launch at 1 pm from the Yacht Club of St. Louis proceeding downstream or at Harbor Point  proceeding upstream in the main channel of the Mississippi River. About 2:15 p.m. the parade will arrive at Our Lady of the Rivers Shrine in Portage des Sioux, and end in Grafton. The parade will be visible from the Great River Road.

Musical guests include Typsy Gypsy, The Dream Catcher Project, Blu Skies, and Dave Thompson. Chris’ River Market will provide Bar-B-Q and beverages for purchase throughout the day. Proceeds from the festival benefit the Cabin Restoration Project, a collaborative effort begun in 2012 to renovate the group camp cabins in Pere Marquette State Park.

There will be excitement throughout the entire town as it gets on board with the Shiver Me Timbers Towboat Festival with a Citywide Treasure Hunt, Pirate Ship Rides, discounted Parasailing for those who come dressed as pirates, Hula-hoop Making Workshop, Pirate Parties, Grog and Grub Specials, and discounts by many of Grafton’s businesses.
