Visit beautiful Glazebrook Park as it is lit up
with lights to celebrate the season.
Get
your picture taken with Santa Claus, roast chestnuts and marshmallows on an
open fire, carriage rides and free hot cocoa and treats. In honor of the
giving season, we ask that non-perishables food items are brought for
donation to the Crisis Food Center.

Lewis and Clark State Historic Site

Witness the arrival of the Lewis and Clark Expedition as reenactors arrive
at the mouth of the River Dubois to establish their 1803-04 Winter
Encampment. Join the members of the Corps in a military demonstration of
1803 U.S. Army Expedition. Visitors can experience camp life in early
Frontier Illinois, and watch demonstrations of period crafts and skills.

Observe the winter equinox sunrise and learn of the discovery, form and
function of an ancient post circle called Woodhenge that was used as a solar
calendar by the Cahokians. No ceremony or ritual is presented. Woodhenge is
located 1/2 mile west of Monks Mound and the main entrance to the site.

Jacoby Arts Center, 627 E. Broadway
“Four by 13”: Thirteen Squared is a group of 13
award-winning women artists whose mission is to generate funds for
the benefit of local arts organizations. The collaborative has been
together for six years creating original theme art exhibits at
different venues. This year the Jacoby Arts Center has been chosen
by the collective and 100% of sales from the Four by 13 exhibit
benefits the gallery at the Jacoby Arts Center. Participating
Artists are Cynthia Berg, Elizabeth Concannon, Susan Dietz-Schmidt,
M.J. Goerke, Jane Isenberg, Ellen Klamon, Ruth Kolker, Nancy Kurten,
Emily Long, Marceline Saphian, Ida Steinberg, Harriet Thomas and Kay
Wood.

HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Activities throughout the afternoon from
3 pm through 6:30 pm
The
Village of Elsah opens its doors for the annual “Home for the
Holidays” house tour. Seven charming homes in this historic village
will be on display, festively decorated for the holiday season from
3:00 to 5:45. In addition, two bed and breakfast inns, the village’s
two churches featuring special music, the Elsah Museum, and 19th
century Farley’s Music Hall will be open for the tour. The tour will
be followed by an old fashioned caroling procession from the river
to Selma Square where the tree lighting will take place at 6:30 pm.
Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at the Alton Visitor’s Center,
at several business in Elsah, or, after 1:00 pm on the day of the
tour, at either the Village Museum or at Farley’s Music Hall.
