The region along the Mississippi River south of St. Louis is French
Colonial Country. Once the administrative center for this region of the
Louisiana Territory the area offers visitors a unique glimpse into this
time period. Unique homes can be found in Ste. Genevieve’s historic
district. Across the Mississippi River in Randolph County sites include
the Pierre Menard Home and Fort de Chartres. The area has

real river towns of Alton, Elsah and Grafton or take a side trip to

St. Charles
Located a short distance west of St. Louis, easily accessible by I-70 is
Missouri's the bustling town of St. Charles. Visit the historic downtown
district with a large variety of eateries and specialty shops. This
district comes alive on weekends throughout the year as the area is host
to numerous events. The new Lewis & Clark Boat House and Nature Center
is just part of the attractions that make St. Charles a site on the

Hannibal,
Missouri
Known best as the home of Mark Twain, Hannibal provides it visitors with a
glimpse into what it was like living along the river in the 19th century.
Visitors can ride a real riverboat, visit Missouri's oldest show cave and
enjoy the outdoors at Missouri's largest state park. There is plenty of
shopping and lodging around town and a full schedule of events throughout
