Founded in 1945, the Alton Symphony Orchestra is
one of only a few organizations dedicated to the performance of live
symphonic music in the southern Illinois region.
For sixty years it has serviced the residents and artists
throughout this area and has served as a cultural force, broadening
the awareness and importance of the arts in the community, and
making itself easily accessible to persons of all ages and
backgrounds. |

Department of Lewis and Clark Community College provides students
core instruction in theory and piano, and has an expanded course
offerings in vocal music, jazz instruction, and music technology. L
& C also offers a variety of performing groups including show
choir, concert choir, jazz band, concert bans, guitar ensemble, and
the ASO. |

in 1974 Masterworks Chorale is an auditioned ensemble of experienced
choral singers. The Chorale holds six major concert events per
season as well as additional appearances at other community events.
Masterworks Children's Chorus offers similar opportunities to young

The SCCS is an all-volunteer Symphony Orchestra
comprised of area music teachers, professional musicians, interested
adults, and talented students. The repertoire includes standard
symphonic music as well as Broadway show tunes and popular
favorites. The SCCS holds 5-7 performances each year, plus 2 or 3
Pops concerts during the summer. |
