St. Charles has a rich and vibrant artist community. Many stores and studios can be found in the area particularly in historic downtown St. Charles and Augusta. The Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles has 20 working art studios where visitors can watch the creative process and buy art directly from the artists. Click here for a list of artists at the Centre.

He credits his earlier careers as stockman and butcher for laying the groundwork in replicating these details. He is just as talented in sculpting the human form.

  Jim Carlson's ceramics ans pottery is unlike any other - with a dash of whimsy in each piece. He enjoys hand building pottery, throwing on the wheel, and combining the two methods to produce unique pieces of art. Jim also teaches children and adult pottery classes in his studio.

  Ann Croghan captures energy on canvas in a variety of colors in her abstract acrylics. Her beautiful, lyrical, abstract paintings are created by using transparent layers of colors that develop intriguing depth of surface. Ann  also produces watercolors, pastels, and drawings.

  Laura creates sculptural ceramics and oil portraits. Faces and color dominate both her oil painting and clay sculpture. In oils there is a palette of vivid colors to embody the spirit of the person. Her work in clay, though still involving the human form, is darkly whimsical when compared to her oils.

  Laura creates pieces that are wheel thrown stoneware with an emphasis on bright colors, subtle details, and textures. Most of her work is functional and includes dishware, wine chillers and serving platters. They are all food safe and lead free, and can be used in the microwave, oven, and dishwasher safe.
