CIVIL WAR REENACTMENT

You are invited to historic Pittsfield to experience this annual living history event. Watch as individuals in Union and Confederate encampments participate in military drills, along with a ladies tea, fashion shows, and performances by President and Mrs. Lincoln. Throughout the weekend there will be many quality period vendors, children's games, period crafts and demonstrations, and exhibits of local history.

MARTINFEST
Griggsville, IL

Grounds of the old Nature House facility (30494 IL-107), south edge of Griggsville.
This annual festival was formed so that purple martin enthusiasts could come together in celebration of this beautiful and beneficial bird. Please bring lawn chairs and join us in celebrating “America’s most wanted bird.” There will be food vendors on the grounds. There will also be door prizes and raffle items plus a great meal at noon on Saturday. Saturday is Vendor’s Day where nature oriented vendors offer exceptional discounts on their products

WESTERN ILLINOIS FAIR

Western Illinois Fairgrounds, S. Oak Street - south of Quincy Street and one block west of IL-107
Come and enjoy a fun filled weekend to renew old acquaintances and make new ones in Griggsville.  On Friday evening enjoy the pageants and contests then return on Saturday for the magnificent mile parade and musical entertainment.  There are livestock exhibits, arts and crafts exhibits, and of course demolition derbies including the School Bus Demo Derby on Saturday night. A variety of food stands, crafts, and flea market booths are available.

PIKE COUNTY PIG DAYS

For more than 25 years Pittsfield has celebrated Pike County's large pork industry with their annual Pig Days festival. In honor of the pig there are activities such as longest pig tail contest and hog calling contests. There are arts and crafts, kids games, and live entertainment. And as you would expect, food stands offer some tasty pork specialties

This annual event is one of the largest festivals in the area and celebrates everything apple in the quaint, historic town of Barry. A parade winds through the city where local music bands and a crafts show entertain visitors. Apple pies, ice cream and strudels are all specialties. Old-time crafts, local bluegrass band performances and a car show complete the weekend.

Every fall the Pike County Color Drive provides visitors with the opportunity to see the beauty of the rural areas of the county bathed in the splendor of autumn. Nearly every community in the county participates in Illinois’ premier countywide event. Each community provides a unique roster of events, activities, vendors, crafts, food, and exhibits for the general public to take part in. The county’s historic towns transport its visitors to a time when one-room schoolhouses and country churches dotted the landscape. Watch horse-drawn plows in the fields, take a break and carve a pumpkin, or see cider and apple butter being made. Maps and brochures with detailed information can be accessed at the website below.
