AUGUSTA PLEIN AIR
ART EVENT

The Greater Augusta Chamber of Commerce hosts the Augusta Plein Air Event that has become one of the largest plein air events in the Midwest. In previous years over 100 artists from 6 states participated in this 10-day event. For the artists there will be a contest with prizes and an opportunity to sell their art. For the public this is an opportunity to chat with the artists and watch them work during a variety of special events. There will be an art sale and auction on Saturday, April 30.

JOURNEY TO THE WEST EVENT

RUN, LIVE, LEARN EXPO
Cottleville, MO

Expo is open from 8 am - 11 am
Save the date for the annual Run, Live, Learn Expo. This event includes a 10K race, 3-Mile Walk and 1-Mile Fun Run. The organizers are hoping to have their biggest race ever, rain or shine, and want to see you on the starting line! The 10K Race is a USATF certified course. It is through flat and rolling through rural Cottleville and unincorporated St. Charles County. 1-Mile Fun Run and 3-Mile Walk are on the St. Charles Community College campus. You don’t have to run the races to come to the Wellness Fair! It’s free and open to the public from 8 am - 11 am.

FLAT AS A PLAIN RIDE

The parade is on Saturday, July 3 at 9:30 am. The two-mile parade route starts at Third and Main streets, proceeds north on Main, turns east on Tom Ginnever Avenue and ends at T.R. Hughes Ballpark.

Participating boats will launch at 1 pm from the Yacht Club of St. Louis proceeding downstream or at Harbor Point  proceeding upstream in the main channel of the Mississippi River. About 2:15 p.m. the parade will arrive at Our Lady of the Rivers Shrine in Portage des Sioux, and end in Grafton.  The parade will be visible from the Great River Road.

GREAT RIVER RENDEZVOUS

Registration begins at 10 am
Begins in Grafton and ends at the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary in West Alton, IL

Be a part of this canoe and kayak race on the Mississippi River. Rendezvous in Grafton where the race will begin at 12 pm. Then, race your way 18 miles down river to the end of the race at the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary in West Alton, MO. Clubs, shops and spectators are invited to attend. In addition to the race, there will social paddles, skills clinics, family paddles, food and music.

HARVEST FESTIVAL
Augusta, MO

The town's annual Harvest Festival features a picnic and concert Friday night in the vineyards. On Saturday many of the businesses in Augusta are holding "open houses" throughout the day with special discounts, guest experts making presentations, and wine tastings. Saturday night features the "Wine Maker Social", a premier dinner event show casing the area's wine makers.

A tradition since 1991 the City of O'Fallon presents a drive-through dazzling holiday one mile display of over one million lights depicting holiday scenes. Each scene is designed and funded by local organizations, churches and businesses.

Cars $9, Vans $15, Buses $1 person ($25 minimum; enjoy the walk-through night on December 14 for $2 or a Train Ride on Mondays by reservation (no vehicles).

CHRISTMAS WALK

Over 1,500 luminaries light your way through historic Augusta the first two Friday evenings of December. This annual event has more than a 25 year history and has become a tradition for the Augusta community to host.  A complimentary Trolley Shuttle will take you through town to visit the many shops and antique stores, wineries and brewery, restaurants and food stands. There is Christmas caroling and a giant Christmas tree at a local church. Enjoy the challenge of gathering items from all the shops in the Holiday Scavenger Hunt and turn your answers in at the History Museum and register for prizes from local merchants. The town square features a horse drawn carriage ride around the heart of town, a toasty bon fire with Chestnuts roasting and marshmallows toasting, and Santa Claus..

Join in the fun for the kickoff of eagle watching season. See a live bald eagle up close and personal. Meet and greet with knowledgeable people from the area’s Eagle Watching Hot Spots to see what is in store for the rest of the season. Receive a "bird band" and become an official Alton Eagle Watcher. Bring the kids for fun activities and crafts. Learn about eagle watching: how to spot eagles, where to look, and what brings the eagles to this region each year. Then, head back across the river to Downtown Alton for ice sculpting on the streets and a wildlife art walk to view eagle and wildlife photography displayed by artists from Alton and beyond!
