The Greater Augusta Chamber of Commerce hosts the Augusta Plein Air Event that has become one of the largest plein air events in the Midwest. In previous years over 100 artists from 6 states participated during the 10-day event. For the artists there will be a contest with prizes and an opportunity to sell their art. For the public this is an opportunity to chat with the artists and watch them work during a variety of special events. There will be an art sale and auction on Saturday, May 3rd.

FIBER ARTS & SPRING
PLANTING FESTIVAL

Spring brings the creative artists to Boonesfield Village for a delightful day of merriment. Fiber artists will demonstrate and sell crafts made of wool, cotton, flax and natural dyes. Spinning, weaving and lace making are just a few of the skills offered during this unique festival.

RENAISSANCE FAIRE

The transfer of Louisiana from France to the young United States was celebrated, debated, fought over, and ultimately established the reality of a nation that reached "from sea to shining sea." BLESSING OF THE FLEET

Participating boats will launch at 1 pm from the Yacht Club of St. Louis proceeding downstream or Harbor Point  proceeding upstream in the main channel of the Mississippi River. About 2:15 p.m. the parade will arrive at Our Lady of the Rivers Shrine in Portage des Sioux, and end in Grafton.  The parade will be visible from the Great River Road.

FLAT AS A FLOODPLAIN
BICYCLE RIDE

Start the cycling season with an easy pedal on the flat terrain of the St. Charles floodplain between the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. There are routes of various distances with the longer routes stopping at Portage des Sioux and the Marais Temps Clair Conservation Areas.

NIGHT HIKE

Experience the sounds of a late winter evening during a moderate hike. Listen and watch for Timberdoodles (American Woodcock) performing their courtship display shortly after sunset. This "nature show" belongs to one of the strangest members of the bird world. Spring Peepers may also be performing their courtship songs from the small ponds along the 2-mile trail. Bring a small flashlight, warm clothing and hiking boots, and water.
Free, Registrations begin February 29 and are required by March 14. Ages 10 and up.

BASICS OF BIRD WATCHING

Come to this interactive program to learn how to identify the birds. Please bring your own binoculars and bird field guide to learn how to make the most of your personal bird watching tools (binoculars and field guides will be available to borrow). The program starts in the classroom and then takes a short hike (please dress for the weather.) If you like watching the birds, come to enhance your experience of nature by learning how to identify them!

"Raid on Boonefield Village" - Civil War re-enactors will display lifelike depictions of a village during the war. Surgeons, soldiers, civilians will all face the challenges in Boonesfield Village which will offer a dramatic backdrop for the reenactments. Music and traders will add to the atmosphere provided by the living history theater.
