FASTNACHT Maeystown, IL		Tuesday, February 16, 2010 5 pm - 8 pm St. John Church A long time German tradition, Maeystown celebrates Fastnacht, the last day before Lent, with a German pancake and sausage dinner and German music at St. John Church UCC. For more information call 618-458-6660

ART EXHIBITS Belleville, IL		January 22 - March 7, 2008 Tuesday - Friday: 11 am - 5 pm Thursday: 11 am - 8 pm Saturday: 10 am - 2 pm Closed Sunday, Monday, and school holidays Schmidt Art Center, Southwestern Illinois College Shades of Greatness: Art Inspired by Negro Leagues Baseball. "Shades of Greatness" is the first collaborative art exhibition inspired by the history of Negro Leagues baseball, which dates back to the 1880s. shortly after the founding of the National League. It features 35 original works that were created in 2003 to help paint an accurate portrayal of this little-publicized chapter of American history. Also on display: St. Louis artist Harold Ernst Poth exhibits his sculptures that are colorful, thoughtful and whimsical sculptures in the Reiners Gallery, and works by SIUE Metalsmith Students. CHOCOLATE WALK Ste. Genevieve, MO		Saturday, February 14, 2009 10 am - 4 pm Historic downtown Ste. Genevieve Sample a luscious chocolate treat at each of the 28 participating downtown shops on Market, Merchant, Third and Main Streets  that are displaying a special poster. Ask for special discounts and/or drawings.  Ticket proceeds go to support Ste Genevieve High Schools' hard working Student Organizations: Skills USA and FCCLA. FELIX VALLÉ OPEN HOUSE Ste. Genevieve, MO		Sunday, February 15, 2009 12 pm - 4 pm Felix Vallé House This afternoon open house celebrates the birthday of  Felix Vallé, a prominent resident of early Ste. Genevieve. FOURTH FRIDAY ART WALK Ste. Genevieve, MO		Friday, February 27, 2009 6 pm - 9 pm Historic downtown Ste. Genevieve Several galleries in Ste. Genevieve are offering the opportunity to view the art works of Ste. Genevieve area and regional artists with a variety of art forms that will offer something for everyone. Other retail businesses will also participate in the event by being open during the same hours. Refreshments will be served at various locations and maps are available at each location designating which galleries and studios are open. FETE DU BON VIEUX TEMPS Cahokia, IL		PROBABLE EVENT - DETAILS TBA February, 2009 2 pm - 5 pm Colonial Cahokia State Historic Sites complex The "Festival of the Good Old Days," this colonial Mardi Gras celebration features music, historic tours, activities, and demonstrations at the Cahokia Courthouse, Jarrot Mansion, the Martin-Boismenue House, and the Holy Family Log Church.
