We regularly update this calendar to provide you with up to date information on a variety of events that take place in French Colonial Country.  Changes are made when we gather more information or when we learn of an event. 38TH ANNUAL FORT DE CHARTRES RENDEZVOUS Prairie du Rocher, IL		June 7 - June 8, 2008 9 am - 5 pm Fort De Chartres 4 miles west of Prairie du Rocher on IL-155 One of the largest in rendezvous events in the country occurs annually at this historic fort. 18th century crafts, food, music, 1000's of historically dressed participants, flintlock musket and rifle competition, cannon and mortar competition, traders and more. HISTORICAL SOCIETY OPEN HOUSE Prairie du Rocher, IL		June 7 - June 8, 2008 10 am - 4 pm Creole House The Randolph County Historical Society will conduct guided tours of the Creole House, a 19th century home with French American transitional architecture that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Creole House is only a two block detour for visitors attending the Rendezvous at Fort de Chartres. Free For more information call 618-284-3319
STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL Kimmswick, MO		June 7 - June 8, 2008 10 am - 5 pm Downtown Kimmswick During the first weekend in June Kimmswick is overflowing with strawberries. If it is made with strawberries you will find it at this festival. Craft and food vendors line the streets as live entertainers perform at several areas throughout town and there is an area filled with rides for the kids. This is a great event for the whole family to enjoy! Free. Park at the Windsor School and catch a shuttle bus into town. For more information call 636-464-6464
FELIX VALLÉ OPEN HOUSE Ste. Genevieve, MO		Saturday, June 14, 2008 7 pm - 9 pm Felix Vallé House Enjoy an evening in the garden at this recreation of a veillee, a traditional French Colonial summer social gathering. Featured will be French folk dancing, folk tales, candlelight tours of the home, and refreshments. Free For more information call 573-883-7102
FRENCH FESTIVAL  Ste. Genevieve, MO		June 14 - June 15, 2008 This French Heritage Festival celebrates the 300 years of French culture in America from Quebec to New Orleans and recognizes the greatest concentration of French Colonial architecture in North America that exists in Ste. Genevieve. There will be music, dance, French cuisine and other refreshments, wine tasting, reenactments, promenades, lectures, and French Colonial architecture tours. ANTIQUE SHOW & SALE  Ste. Genevieve, MO		June 14 - June 15, 2008 Saturday: 10 am - 5 pm Sunday: 11 am - 4 pm Knights of Columbus Home, 600 E. Market Street This show and sale will feature a variety of antiques in this circa 1912 home and spacious lawn from the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries. Periodic "Antique Talks" will be held on the home's wide front porch and "Antique Door Prizes" will be awarded daily. Admission Fee For more information call 1-800-373-7007
PORTA WESTFALICA FESTIVAL Waterloo, IL		Tuesday, June 17, 2008 4 pm - 10:30 pm Monroe County Courthouse Grounds This annual event is held in honor of the Sister Cities partnership between Waterloo and Porta Westfalica, Germany. The festival is held on the Courthouse Square with plenty of food and drink. The traditional German fare of pork sausage and potato pancakes is available. The Waterloo German Band and the Waterloo Municipal Band perform throughout the evening. A parade featuring floats and marching bands begins at 6 pm. Free For more information call 618-939-5300

FAMILY DAY Belleville, IL		Saturday, June 16, 2007 10 am - 2 pm Schmidt Art Center Southwestern Illinois College Join the fun at the Family Day celebration at the Schmidt Art Center. Create a one-of-a-kind print by painting on a clear canvas, enjoy guided tours of the current exhibits, and practice your patio/sidewalk chalk art just in time for summer.
