On any summer Tuesday night you can find a true touch of Americana as the conductor strikes up the Waterloo Municipal Band for another concert. The Bandís repertoire includes marches, show tunes, standards, some light classical selections, and yes, a little rock and roll! In keeping with the German heritage of the community, the band also indulges the crowd with an occasional polka

CHARITY RUN/WALK

The Big Bang! 5K Run Against Hunger & 1M Fun Run/Walk is an outdoor event for all ages! Trophies will be awarded to top three in each age group as well as. The event also features post race massages, attendance prizes, and refreshments. Participants will receive a race T-Shirt (no guarantee if registering on race day). Proceeds benefit the Arnold Food Pantry.

LIBERTY BELL OF THE
WEST CELEBRATION
Kaskaskia, IL

Kaskaskia Bell State Historic Site

This annual celebration takes place at the site of the Liberty Bell of the West, which was rung when
Rogers Clark and his Long Knives captured Kaskaskia on July 4, 1778. A ceremony starts at 12:30 with speakers and the French Colonial Marines from nearby Fort de Chartres. The celebration also features live music, food and other refreshments, and the Church of the Immaculate Conception will be open for tours.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
Columbia, IL

Grounds open at 11 am, Breakfast at Legion Hall at 9 am
American Legion Memorial Park, 375 E. Locust Street
The community of Columbia bands together to form the July Fourth Committee and puts on this Independence Day celebration that features food, beer, and other refreshments, bingo, a washer tournament, a Kloepper tournament, and other entertainment. Fireworks begin at dusk.

OLD FASHIONED
JULY 4TH CELEBRATION

This hometown celebration is held to encourage and strengthen the relationship between surrounding communities and the city. The event features softball and kickball tournaments, rides, kids games, good & drinks, raffle, poker, artisans, fireworks and more! Music provided by various local groups with the US Air Force Band of MidAmerica playing in the evening. Fireworks begin at 9:30 pm.

The Sainte Genevieve County Fair includes a parade, livestock shows, demolition derby, horse show, truck pulls, tractor pulls, queen contest, 4H and FFA exhibits and a band on Friday night. There is a lot to see and do for adults and children all weekend with plenty of good food and entertainment.

The town of Smithton hosts this annual event featuring Famous Smithton fish-Plates & Sandwiches. Both days feature quilt/cash bingo, beer garden, children's games and inflatables, basket raffle, sausage stand, silent auction, fruit stand, pillowcase stand, fanny quilts, cookbooks, cake raffle, and more. Live entertainment on both nights.

RANDOLPH COUNTY FAIR
Sparta, IL
  July 11 - July 20, 2014
Randolph County Fair Grounds, West Belmont Street
This fair features special events, variety of foods, parade, 4H, livestock, and agricultural exhibits. Special events scheduled are Friday (12th):-Craft Fair at 6 pm; Saturday (13th): 4h small animal judging and open horse show at1 pm; Sunday (14th): 4 wheeler pull and lawn mower pull at 1 pm; Monday (15th): 4h horse show at 6 pm; Tuesday (16th) - 4h livestock auction at 7 pm; Friday (19th): tractor and truck pull at 7 pm; Saturday (20th): - mud bog at 7 pm.
Free parking and entry to the fairgrounds, admission charged for the special events.

Monroe County Fairgrounds, IL-156 
This annual fair features agricultural exhibits and many horse related events. Other exhibits include arts and crafts, 4-H projects, floral arrangements, art and photography, and quilts. Carnival rides are a favorite and local organizations offer food and refreshments. The Fair Grandstand events range from tractor pulls to the FFA competition and the annual Fair Queen Pageant and the Little Miss contest.

Several galleries in Sainte Genevieve are offering the opportunity to view the art works of Sainte Genevieve area and regional artists with a variety of art forms that will offer something for everyone. FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION

The public is invited to enjoy the 4th of July Holiday from one of the best venues in town. Visitors can access the 43-foot-tall Mississippi River Overlook viewing platform; see the Gateway Geyser erupt 600 feet into the sky, matching the height of the Gateway Arch; and watch the Fair Saint Louis Air Shows set for noon and 4 pm on July 4 and 5, and at 5 pm on July 6 (schedule subject to change). Other family-friendly activities will get underway each evening starting at 5 pm and include free face painting, caricature drawings, balloon art, an inflatable obstacle course, hot air balloon display, magic shows, juggling and fire performances, carnival games, a circus workshop, and live entertainment.

Zeuxis: Still, Blue: An association of 25 diverse still life painters responds to the challenge of incorporating the color electric blue into contemporary still life paintings. Mark Travers: Zen Garden features a series of paintings focusing on the shape, color, texture, and illusion of water bubbles on the surface of lily pads. Travers' work focuses on the importance of our planet's water, and the implications of man-made environmental problems. Erin Vigneau Dimick: Proof features mixed media collages that incorporate embroidery, vintage textiles, and mathematical texts. Vigneau Dimick's blending of materials and imagery promotes an inquiry into identity and social construction.
