Several galleries in Ste. Genevieve are offering the opportunity to
view the art works of Ste. Genevieve area and regional artists with
a variety of art forms that will offer something for everyone.

event by being open during the same hours. Refreshments will be
served at various locations and maps are available at each location
designating which galleries and studios are open.

event is a day of history, reverie and reminiscence dedicated to the
hard working forefathers and foremothers of Ste. Genevieve. Come see
how it used to be done, whether its farming, cooking, spinning, lace
making, leather working, soap making, wood carving, gardening, or
good old-fashioned games. Watch demonstrations of handicrafts of
yesteryear. Try the Lions Club’s vittles or bring a picnic. Stay
the day and have a blast from the past!

APPLE BUTTER FESTIVAL
Kimmswick, MO |

Downtown Kimmswick
The Apple Butter Festival is the largest event in
Jefferson County. Hundreds of vendor booths will fill the city
park and line the streets of Kimmswick selling a variety of crafts
and food items. The city of Kimmswick and the Kimmswick Merchants
will also be providing live entertainment. The Kimmswick
Historical Society will again be making and selling their famous
Apple Butter at the Apple Butter Pavilion on Market Street.
Free. Park at the Windsor School and catch a shuttle
bus into town.

(French pastry made fresh on site), lots of home baked goodies, and
lots more. Visit a historical display in the old Maplewood School
house, see live demonstrations, trace your ancestors, purchase
historical publications, visit the country store, stir the apple
butter, wander the grounds, and enjoy a relaxing day with music
provided by internationally known Illinois native Dennis Stroughmatt
et’ E’Spirit Creole.

Following the European tradition of capturing the
atmosphere of the outdoors, artists are invited to join the realms
of the famous regionalist artists of the 1930's by painting
outdoors in scenic Ste. Genevieve with an opportunity to display
and sell their work on the streets of Ste. Genevieve Saturday and
Sunday, October 10th & 11th during the Autumn Daze Art /
Artisan / Fine Craft event. Two
pieces of work produced during the week will be juried on Saturday
with monetary prizes being awarded at Noon.

FETE AT THE FORT

Come
join the fun and be a part of the annual Fete at The Fort at
Historic Fort de Chartres. This is a perfect opportunity to sample
what brewers will be showcasing in a unique 18th Century
environment. The first 1500 attendees will receive a commemorative
Fort de Chartres sampling glass to enjoy beer samples from
participating breweries. All of this taking place at a French fort
with 18th century reenactors- natives, French Marines, British
soldiers, Cannon crews, Fife and Drum Corps, and Bagpipe groups to
name a few! Hot Dogs, Brats, water, and soft drinks will be
available in the food court. Proceeds benefit the Save Illinois
History foundation which supports the Historic Sites of Illinois.

HISTORICAL HAUNT

Creole House
The Randolph County Historical Society transforms
the Creole House, a 19th century home with French American
transitional architecture that is listed on the National Register of
Historic Places, into a haunted house based on actual historical
events. The Creole House is only a two block detour for
visitors attending the Rendezvous at Fort de Chartres.

CHILI COOK-OFF

annual event features the culinary creations of individuals, local

Experience more than twenty of Ste. Genevieve's notable and
notorious of spirits in Missouri's oldest cemetery, the restored
1787 Memorial Cemetery. Costumed spirits will present Ste.
Genevieve's past through stories and tales of mystery and amusement.
This living history program of stories, traditions and nostalgia
highlights the lives and personalities of notables such as U.S.
Senator Lewis F. Linn, Felix and Odile Vallé, Marie LaPorte, Joseph
Bogy, Ferdinand Rozier (local business partner of John James
Audubon) and Col. St. Gemme. All proceeds benefit the Foundation for
Restoration of Ste. Genevieve's Memorial Cemetery Restoration
project.
