FRENCH & INDIAN
WAR ASSEMBLAGE

Prairie du Rocher, IL
October 4 - October 5, 2008

Fort De Chartres
4 miles west of Prairie du Rocher on IL-155
The French and Indian War signaled the decline of France's influence in North America and helped spark the American Revolution. This Living History event portrays this time period at this reconstructed historic fort with camp life, contests, and vignettes.

ARTIST WORKSHOP

The Ste. Genevieve Art Guild kicks off its Plein Air Event with a workshop featuring Michael Anderson. Michael Anderson has been an artist, illustrator & designer for over 30 years. Prior to establishing Michael Anderson Studio in Belleville in 1983 he was employed as a display designer & a graphic artist. Architectural illustrations by Michael Anderson have been published in books, magazines and numerous ads, brochures and design presentations. Michael Anderson frequently paints on Missouri Plein Air Painters Association outings

PLEIN AIR EVENT
Ste. Genevieve, MO
October 3 - October 10, 2008
Following the European tradition of capturing the atmosphere of the outdoors, artists are invited to join the realms of the famous regionalist artists of the 1930's by painting outdoors in scenic Ste. Genevieve with an opportunity to display and sell their work on the streets of Ste. Genevieve Saturday and Sunday, October 11th & 12th during the Autumn Daze event. Two pieces of work produced during the week will be juried on Saturday with monetary prizes being awarded at Noon. A workshop with Michael Anderson kick off the event on the 2nd. Painting en plein Air will start on the 3rd.

AUTUMN DAZE
Ste. Genevieve, MO
October 11 - October 12, 2008
This is a family oriented festival that includes Art, Artisan’s Handiwork, Fine Crafts, Children’s Art Tent, Quilt Show & Sale, Farmer’s Market, and Deju vu Spirit Reunion. The annual Promenade de Art put on by the area's local art guilds has been incorporated into this event and artists will be displaying and selling their work. There will be music, food, and refreshments all weekend.

APPLE BUTTER FESTIVAL
Kimmswick, MO
October 25 - October 26, 2008
10 am - 5 pm
Downtown Kimmswick
The Apple Butter Festival is the largest event in Jefferson County. Hundreds of vendor booths will fill the city park and line the streets of Kimmswick selling a variety of crafts and food items. The city of Kimmswick and the Kimmswick Merchants will also be providing live entertainment. The Kimmswick Historical Society will again be making and selling their famous Apple Butter at the Apple Butter Pavilion on Market Street.
Free. Park at the Windsor School and catch a shuttle bus into town.

ART EXHIBIT

MEMORY: This exhibit looks at the ways that works of art convey that most ephemeral aspect of our lives and identity - our memories. Each artist in the Memory exhibit has a Master of Fine Arts degree from SIUE. The work exhibited includes photographs by Peter Gifford, metal sculptures by Agnes Pal, and Rachel drawings by Hayes.

CHILI COOK-OFF

Belleville, IL
October 5 - October 6, 2007
11 am - 10:30 pm
Downtown Belleville
Sponsored by the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce, this annual event features the culinary creations of individuals, local organizations, and area businesses.  Chili connoisseurs of all ages will be able to purchase samples or bowls of each variety of chili and can vote for their favorite to win the People's Choice Award. Saturday features the 3rd Annual City of Belleville Car Show and a Junior Idol competition.

FALL FEST

Monroe County Courthouse Grounds
Local merchants, artists, and crafters gather on the Courthouse Square to sell their wares. A local chicken wing competition allows patrons to sample and vote for the “Best Wings in Waterloo”. Other food and drinks are also available. A petting zoo and carriage rides are featured.
