ANNUAL SHEEP
& CRAFT FESTIVAL

Grounds open to public at 8 am
Monroe County Fairgrounds, 1/4 mile west of Waterloo on IL-156
This annual festival's activities include sheep shearing, spinning, weaving, and working sheep dog demonstrations. Also featured are agricultural exhibits and displays, antique tractors, clinics, and entertainment. A variety of food and drink including a lamb lunch are available from local organizations.

FRUEHLINGSFEST

Maeystown Historic District
The annual Fruehlingsfest Antique and Garden Show takes place around the stone mill in the heart of this historic town. Fruehlingsfest features quality antique dealers from the Midwest and various nurseries selling annuals, perennials and herbs. A variety of food will be offered at Fruehlingsfest, and a creek-side wine garden, served by Ravissant Winery, will also be featured.

HOMECOMING

Saturday: 12 pm - closing

Rides and games for all ages, food, beer and other refreshments. Fried Chicken Dinner on Saturday night. Parade, washer tournament, and duck race on Saturday. Both nights feature live music starting at 8:30.

FESTIVAL OF THE BLUFFS

Enjoy the splendor of the towering Mississippi River bluff lands and hike along one of several trails at Valmeyer’s Salt Lick Point Land and Water Reserve. Enjoy music, food, and demonstrations. Stroll through a market of artwork and handcrafted items and shop for native plants from Missouri Wildflowers Nursery. Come relax and enjoy the views! This year’s event also features a BioBlitz where visitors can watch scientists and naturalists scouting for species throughout the reserve. The festival is hosted by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission, Clifftop and the Salt Lick Point Land and Water Reserve Stewardship Committee.

FESTIVAL

Monroe County Courthouse Grounds
This annual event is held in honor of the Sister Cities partnership between Waterloo and Porta Westfalica, Germany. The festival is held on the Courthouse Square with plenty of food and drink. The traditional German fare of pork sausage and potato pancakes is available. The Waterloo German Band and the Waterloo Municipal Band perform throughout the evening. A parade featuring floats and marching bands begins at 6 pm.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

The community of Columbia bands together to form the July Fourth Committee and puts on this Independence Day celebration that features food, beer and other refreshments, bingo, a washer tournament, a Kloepper tournament, and other entertainment. Fireworks begin at dusk.

MONROE COUNTY FAIR

Monroe County Fairgrounds, IL-156 
This annual fair features agricultural exhibits and many horse related events. Other exhibits include arts and crafts, 4-H projects, floral arrangements, art and photography, and quilts. Carnival rides are a favorite and local organizations offer food and refreshments. The Fair Grandstand events range from tractor pulls to the FFA competition and the annual Fair Queen Pageant and the Little Miss contest.

COLUMBIA DAZE
