Attractions along the Great River Road
in Northeastern Arkansas

Northeastern Arkansas along the Mississippi River offers its visitors a variety of attractions. The downtown districts of Blytheville and Osceola have distinctive architecture in their downtown districts. The small communities of Manila and Earle have county museums covering the history and culture of the region. At Sans Souci Landing visitors can get a great up close view of the Mississippi River. Nature lovers will find plenty to do at Big Lake National Wildlife Refuge and Wapanocca National Wildlife Refuge.

Mississippi County has many different attractions for visitors to the area. The largest community is Blytheville which has interesting architecture in the downtown area. At Manila visitors can find a World War I memorial, a museum in an old train depot, and the Big Lake NWR. Osceola also has interesting architecture in its downtown area and the Mississippi County Museum. Just southeast of town is Sans Souci Landing offering up close views of the Mississippi River. At Wilson visitors can explore artifacts from a Mississippian era Native American village at Hampson Archeological Museum State Park.

Crittenden County is situated on the opposite bank of the Mississippi River from Memphis. The area’s highlights include Wapanocca National Wildlife Refuge where visitors can participate in a wide variety of natural activities. The small community of Earle is home to the Crittenden County Museum and several historic sites. The little community of Turrell has a unique city hall - a World War 2 Quonset hut!
