First Friday with the Arts is a community-centered event that takes place on the First Friday of every month. Established in 2003, First Friday with the Arts is an event initiated by local galleries and gallery owners to encourage residents of the Southeast Missouri region to engage in the arts. Many of the galleries located in and around Downtown Cape Girardeau participate in this monthly event by opening for later hours, hosting Artist Receptions, as well as providing musicians, appetizers, and beverages to visitors of the event.
